Pokémon: Sun & Moon

Akala Clean Up

By
Vincent Lau

Likewise, in this section, we’ll be covering all the little things you can do on Akala Island once you’re the Champion.

A Fiery Present

Perhaps… you’ve heard of us? Hmm?

Return to Paniola Town and visit the house to the west of the Pokemon Centre. On the ground floor, chat to the man sitting behind the table, who happens to be Kiawe’s old man. He’ll give you a Protector that evolves "Rhydon" IconRhydon when it’s traded while holding one.

Gifts from Colress

When you need an oceanside break, travel to Route 8 and head towards the Aether trailer along the north side. As you get near, you should spot Colress standing in front of the trailer. Hmm, he sure likes this route…

Walk up to him and he’ll give you the following items for "Genesect" IconGenesect: Douse Drive , Shock Drive , Burn Drive and Chill Drive . When held by Genesect, these items modify the Type of its signature move Techno Blast.

A Tasty Reward

Head to Mallow’s family restaurant, located south from Olivia’s shop in Konikoni City. Inside, cough up the courage to speak to the Team Skull Grunt by the stairs. She’ll give you a Whipped Dream and Sachet , which can evolve "Swirlix" IconSwirlix and "Spritzee" IconSpritzee when they’re traded with one.

Visit from Kahili

The first time you ever see Kahili is in the Pokemon League, but you may have heard of her before. In any case, take some time out of your busy schedule to visit the Hano Grand Resort. Inside, you’ll find Kahili standing by a plant pot in the foyer.

Chat to her to receive TM92 Trick Room . If you’ve never witnessed it, Trick Room creates a bizarre space where speed priority is reversed. This means slower Pokemon act earlier, while faster Pokemon act later. Useful if you’re running a team of slow Pokemon.

Game Freak Offices

If you’ve never been, the Game Freak offices are located in the office building between the Heahea City Pokemon Centre and the Dimensional Research Lab. Specifically the middle floor.

Inside, you can chat to Morimoto, the Battle Director, towards the west of the office to challenge him to a fierce battle.

Game Freak Morimoto

Pokemon Level Type
"Kangaskhan" IconKangaskhan 62 Normal
"Flareon" IconFlareon 62 Fire
"Jolteon" IconJolteon 62 Electric
"Vaporeon" IconVaporeon 62 Water
"Machamp" IconMachamp 62 Fighting
"Dragonite" IconDragonite 62 Dragon/Flying

"Kangaskhan" IconKangaskhan is an incredibly rare Pokemon found in Wela Volcano Park. However it’s not particular strong in its regular form, which you fight here. Still, you’d be silly to underestimate Morimoto, so slap it with Fighting-types if you have any.

"Flareon" IconFlareon is one of Morimoto’s evolved "Eevee" IconEevees and quite possibly the weakest one. It has Flare Blitz for STAB, Quick Attack to take down weakened foes, Baby-Doll Eyes to drop Attack and Will-o-Wisp to punish physical attackers. Water-type special attackers are fantastic.

"Jolteon" IconJolteon is insanely fast with high Special Attack to boot. But it has terrible HP and Defence, so an easy win for strong physical attackers, especially Ground-types. It too has Baby-Doll Eyes and Quick Attack, but has Thunder Wave to cause paralysis.

"Vaporeon" IconVaporeon has ridiculous high HP and good special stats, but suffers from below-average Speed. It has a powerful STAB Hydro Pump and Toxic to punish Pokemon that resist it. Hit it hard with physical attackers and don’t look back.

"Machamp" IconMachamp is the usual powerhouse with laughable Speed. However, you won’t be laughing when its Stone Edge and Poison Jab connect, dishing out heavy damage to your Flying and Fairy-type Pokemon. Psychic-types are ideal, if they can take a hit that is.

"Dragonite" IconDragonite is the final evolution of "Dratini" IconDratini, a bulky Dragon Pokemon. Morimoto’s has power STAB Hurricane and Draco Meteor, plus Thunder and Blizzard for Coverage. Ice-type moves are essential since they do 4x damage. Just be careful as Dragonite seems to have Multiscale.

The first time you win, you’ll receive the Oval Charm , which boosts the rate of finding Pokemon Eggs in the Pokemon Nursery. Perfect for hardcore Pokemon breeders! In addition, you will be able to challenge Morimoto to a battle once per day.

The other thing you can do in Game Freak’s offices is speak to the Director towards the east side of the office. Once you’ve caught all 300 Pokemon in the Alola Pokedex (not including Mythical Pokemon), he’ll give you the Shiny Charm , which boosts the rate of finding rare Shiny Pokemon.
