This page details how to complete the Main Quest Crisis at Hyrule Castle in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You’ll find a walkthrough on how to find Captain Hoz in Hyrule Castle.
If you’ve not already landed in Hyrule Kingdom, head over to our walkthrough page on How to Reach Hyrule, for information on how to leave the Great Sky Island!
How to Start Crisis at Hyrule Castle¶
When you arrive in Hyrule Kingdom, you’ll need to make your way over to a small settlement called Lookout Landing, which can be found just south of Hyrule Castle. When you first drop into Hyrule Kingdom you’ll be quite a ways from Lookout Landing. You’ll need to travel north/north east to reach the settlement.
When you arrive at the gates you’ll be told by the guard, Mondi, to head over to Purah, who is the leader of Lookout Landing. She can be found at the main settlement building, found to the right of Lookout Landing Skyview Tower (more on this later!).
Head up the steps and you’ll be greeted by Purah, who will ask you to head to Castle Hyrule to find Captain Hoz. After speaking with Purah, you’ll need to head out the settlement towards Hyrule Castle Town Ruins.
Where to Find Captain Hoz¶
Continue all the way until you reach the main castle gates. Here, you can either walk along the cliff edge to the left or open the gate using ultrahand. Follow the path up the hill and you’ll encounter a man standing guard on the right. He’ll tell you that Hoz is found in the first gatehouse, at the end of this road.
You can follow this path all the way to the gatehouse and then speak to Wingo outside the first gatehouse. He’ll tell you that Hoz can be found on top of the gatehouse! Behind Wingo, you’ll spot a shorter turret that you can climb up to, then you can make your way onto the roof where you’ll find Hoz and a few other NPCs.
When you speak to Hoz, you and him will witness Zelda fly off in a beam of light across Hyrule and he’ll ask you to go and tell Purah.
On your way back down you could try your hand at making a cart to ride down the hill on using the materials nearby! A word of caution though: you won’t be able to steer it. It is a good opportunity to practice your ultrahand abilities though! All you’ll need to do is attach some wheels to either side of a plank of wood and away you go!
On your way back to Lookout Landing, you may also want to head into Kyononis Shrine (map marker). It’s a shrine all about combat mechanics and it’ll teach you some valuable stuff about attack moves and combos!
How to Activate Lookout Landing Skyview Tower¶
After returning back to Lookout Landing, speak with Purah. She’ll then tell you to go and activate Lookout Landing Skyview Tower - which you were previously unable to activate. This will enable you to unlock a huge portion of the map as well be able to fast travel to these towers.
Before you activate it, you might want to have a break and purchase some goodies from the shop, as well as make yourself some food. It’s always good to stock up on arrows and food for the journey!
At this time, you’ll also finally unlock the Paraglider! This bit of kit allows you to glide across the lands and is especially useful for gliding off the top skyview towers.
Head over to our guides on How to Use the Paraglider and How to customize your paraglider for more information.
