The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Complete Kiuyoyou Shrine

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to complete Kiuyoyou Shrine, which is a shrine found in the "Central Hyrule" iconCentral Hyrule region in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to Find Kiuyoyou Shrine

Kiuyoyou shrine is found in the Hyrule Ridge region (Map Marker). More specifically, you’ll find this shrine in Rowan Plains, found northeast of Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower. It’s not hidden or anything so you should be able to locate it just off the path!

Kiuyoyou Shrine: Ice and Fire Puzzle Solutions

This shrine is aptly called ‘Fire and Ice’ because you’ll need to use large blocks of ice and flames to make your way through the shrine’s puzzles.

When you first enter this shrine, the first thing you’ll need to do is grab the large ice cube to the left. Further to the left of this ice cube, you’ll see a pressure plate in an alcove - the cube doesn’t fit in the alcove as it’s just too big.

This is where the fire comes in! Use "Ultrahand" iconUltrahand and drag the ice cube under the flames, but don’t do it for too long as the ice will melt very quickly. If you do accidentally melt the ice cube into oblivion, another will spawn!Once your ice cube is just a tad smaller place it on the pressure plate to open up the gate to the left.

Kiuyoyou Shrine: How to Get the Treasure Chest

Before we proceed with the puzzle, take your ice cube and use it to get up onto the platform on the left hand wall of this new room. You need your ice cube to be small enough to climb up to the top of it but big enough to act as a step up to the ledge above. Once on the ledge, use ultrahand to bring the ice cube up onto this ledge so you can then climb the ice cube to the ledge above where the treasure is found. The chest contains a "Zonaite Spear" iconZonaite Spear with 4 power.

Use the ice cube as a step up to the treasure chest.

After grabbing the treasure chest, hop back down and use the gust of wind to paraglide over to the other side of the shrine. Here you’ll notice that an ice block is continuously dropping into flames and melting instantly. You can’t use ultrahand quick enough to get it out of the flames unfortunately.

What you’ll need to do instead is grab the stone slab platform to the right and place it against the wall where the fire is emitting from. Then, pick up the ice cube and move it to the ledge. Before you send it down the spikey slope, you’ll need to pick up the stone slab platform and attach it to the top of the ice cube. Then, pick up the ice cube and slab and send it down the spikey slope - with the ice touching the spikes. You need to use the ice as the stone slab won’t go down the slope on its own!

Paraglide down to meet the slab and ice cube on the other side. Use ultrahand to drag the ice cube and slab over to the fire at the beginning of the shrine and drop it beneath the flames - the slab will protect the ice from the fire and the ice cube will be strong enough to push down the pressure plate below.

This pressure plate will open up a gate to the end of the shrine where you can claim your "Light of Blessing" iconLight of Blessing and exit the shrine!

(1 of 4) First use the platform to block the flames so you can grab the ice cube.
