This page details everything you need to know about how to complete The Crucible favor, including where to start the favor by acquiring the first Muspelheim Seed Half at Modvitnir’s Rig in Svartalfheim, and where to find the second seed at Dragon Beach / Alberich Hollow in Svartalfheim. Once you have both seeds, you can then travel to Muspelheim via a Mystic Gateway to begin the Muspelheim Trials / Challenges.
Where to Find the First Muspelheim Seed Half at Modvitnir’s Rig in Svartalfheim¶
To begin this favor, you’ll need to find the first Muspelheim Seed Half from the Legendary Chest at Modvitnir’s Rig. We’ve included a brief overview of this below.
Where to Find the Legendary Chest at Modvitnir’s Rig¶
You should naturally find the Legendary Chest at Modvitnir’s Rig as you make your way up to the mining rig furnace. You’ll need to hit a spinning wheel to open the gate, then climb around and up the platform. You will find the chest which contains the first Muspelheim Seed Half at the top of the platform.
Where to Find the Second Muspelheim Seed Half on the Dragon Beach of Svartalfheim¶
Now that you have the first Muspelheim Seed Half, it will likely be some time before you can acquire the second. This is because you’ll need a special weapon, the Draupnir spear, to gain access to the higher regions of the Dragon Beach, which stretch into Alberich Hollow. You will acquire this spear as part of the main story, during the Forging Destiny main quest.
How to Open the Legendary Chest on Dragon Beach / Alberich Hollow¶
Once you have the Draupnir spear, go to the area of Dragon Beach shown on the map below, and use the spear to gain access to the higher platform. You can then follow the path towards Alberich Hollow until you find a Legendary Chest covered in gold. You’ll need to take one of the nearby bombs and throw it at the chest to destroy the gold around it, giving you access to loot the chest. With both seeds now in your possession, you can use any Mystic Gateway to travel to The Crucible area of Muspelheim, where you’ll begin the next part of this favor by completing the first 6 Muspelheim Trials there. For more information on these, see our How Muspelheim Trials and Challenges Work in GoWR page.
How to Complete The Crucible Muspelheim Trials and Favor¶
The Crucible favor won’t be properly finished until you’ve completed the first six Muspelheim Trials that you have access to. We’ve detailed individual guides for each of these, so if you’re struggling with any in particular, be sure to check the links below.
Weapon Mastery Muspelheim Trial¶
This is a fairly simple trial which requires you to make use of all three major weapons: the Leviathan Axe, the Blades of Chaos, and the Draupnir Spear to kill the enemies within the time limit.

Flawless Muspelheim Trial¶
This trial is among the most difficult of the starting six, since you need to avoid being hit even once. You’ll need to become familiar with the enemy spawns and enemy types, including their attack moves, to get through this one.

Ring Out Challenge Muspelheim Trial¶
This trial requires you to stagger and launch enemies to cast them into the lava pits in order to kill them. You won’t be able to kill them with regular attacks or even a combination of runic attacks most of the time, so you need to find ways to cast them into the pits instead.

Opponents rapidly regenerate from any damage, kill them by misadventure | How to Complete the Ring Out Challenge Muspelheim Trial |
Feed the Rift Muspelheim Trial¶
This trial feels more like a mini game than a combat challenge. You need to throw orbs which are dropped by enemies into a realm tear shift, and you need to do this within a time limit. Some orbs are worth more points than others.

Throw orbs into the realm tear to close it before time runs out, kill glowing enemies to collect orbs | How to Complete the Feed the Rift Muspelheim Trial |
Population Control Muspelheim Trial¶
In this trial you’ll need to manage how and when you kill a single elite. If you kill the elite while there are more than 4/4 enemies in the arena (that number includes the elite!), you will fail the trial. You must keep the number at or below 4/4.

King of the Hill Muspelheim Trial¶
The King of the Hill trial is one of the most tricky for some, since you need to keep a number of enemies outside of multiple circles. If there are enemies within the circles when the time runs out, you fail. There are three waves to this trial, each one introducing another circle and tougher enemies.
