How to Start Casualty of War - The Hourglass Favor in God of War Ragnarok¶

The Hourglass is a favor you can find in The Sinkholes section of The Crater in Vanaheim. From where you find the Mystic Gateway in the beginning area of The Sinkholes (where the Stag of Autumn is located), grapple up to the ledge just next to it. Note that you will come across the spirit that starts this favor while doing Quaking Hollow. After climbing the ledge mentioned above, follow the path (destroying a wall with the spear in the process), until you reach an outside area. If you’ve been here before, this is where you saw a dragon earlier, which was the start of The Burning Skies.

Get rid of the dragon, if this is your first time, by hitting the weak points on the pillars with your Draupnir Spear. After doing that, head on over to the right side of the area and open the large gate there with the chain. Hop across the gap, then enter the nearby cave. Burn the vines in your way, freeze the poison totem, and squeeze through the gap. As soon as you do this, turn the corner and the spirit will be right there.

How to Complete Casualty of War - The Hourglass in The Sinkholes¶

If you have this favor active while doing The Burning Skies, then you will come across the other half of the hourglass while doing that one. If not, then it will be located in the tunnel where you have to avoid the dragon’s fire breath. You will need to have done Return of the River first, though, since you’ll need the boat to navigate to the location. Once you’ve done that, return to where you initially met the dragon and open the gate on the other side. Sail the boat through that gate and dock your boat at the beach beyond it.

Open the nearby gate found on that beach and follow the tunnel. This is where you encounter the dragon for The Burning Skies, where you have to evade dragon fire and defeat some enemies. After clear the rock in the first tunnel and passing through a second one, you will come face-to-face with the dragon again after climbing a small ledge. Look for the wind vent near the end of the tunnel, then toss at a spear at it to blow it up and get rid of the dragon. Where the rocks dropped down to block the dragon is where you will find the other half of the hourglass for this favor.
