This page will detail how to complete the Cure for the Dead Favor in God of War Ragnarok.
Where to Start the Cure for the Dead Favor in Vanaheim¶
You will be able to start this Favor after completing The Reckoning main story quest. As you’re leaving Vanaheim with Freya, she will cast an enchantment on your chisel, allowing you to use the little mirrors you’ve been seeing across the realms. The one you come across on your travels in Vanaheim will open a pathway leading to a boat, which will eventually take you to a shore with a Mystic Gateway. Your story objective here is to use the Mystic Gateway to return to Sindri’s House, but you have the option to continue exploring Vanaheim. Use a Sonic Arrow to break the nearby log to get exploring.
One of the places where you can dock your boat is called Pilgrim’s Landing. Upon first arriving here, you should clear the area of enemies at the initial landing spot. You will know you’re in the right spot, as there’s a Berserker’s Gravestone here, even though by the time you can do this Favor, you won’t be able to access it just yet. The ghost, whose name is Mari, will be behind the gravestone. She will ask you to find three items for her, to cure her sickness.
Where to Find the Items for Cure for the Dead¶
Thankfully, you won’t have to go far to find the three items needed for this Favor, as they are all in the Pilgrim’s Landing area. If this is your first time here, then there will be more enemies up ahead. If you came back here later on, there will only be some new enemies up ahead, which include a Nokken. These troublesome enemies need to be killed first, as they will keep the other enemies fully healed. They tend to stay away from you, though, so keep a lookout for enemies that aren’t attacking you.
To begin, climb the wall across from the spirit and go to the other side of the bridge, where the first item will be located. As you continue along, you will see a structure above you, with some unlit braziers on it. Directly across this, in the little puddle, will be the second item you need. To get the third, you will need to solve this little puzzle with the unlit braziers.
How to Solve the Swinging Brazier Puzzle¶
When you first look at the swinging brazier, you should notice that there is a runic disc in place, holding it towards the large tree behind it. Throw your axe at the runic disc to dislodge the swinging brazier, allowing you to officially get started on this puzzle. Step back a little bit and notice how there is a lit brazier to the right. So, you will be able to attach your Blades of Chaos at the structure, allowing you to move it to the left and right. Do this and move it right, which will light the right brazier.
Once it stops swinging, have Freya use her Sigil Arrows on the swinging structure. You will want to place one near the right brazier, and chain another one to reach the unlit left one. When you’ve done that, hit the right brazier with a third Sigil Arrow, which should hopefully chain over and light the left one. If not, then you need to position your Sigil Arrows better. After doing this, attach the Blades again and move the structure left to light the brazier on the wall. All that is left to do is hit that brazier with one final Sigil Arrow to destroy the vines.
You should now be able to access the two runic discs holding the nearby bridge up, lowering it and accessing the final item for this Favor. Once you have all three items, return to the spirit to finish. You will receive the Svartalfheim’s Fortune Amulet Enchantment, as well as some crafting materials, Hacksilver and experience.
