God of War: Ragnarok

Best Amulet of Yggdrasil Enchantments And Upgrades

By
Matt Chard

The Amulet of Yggdrasil is another new feature to God of War Ragnarök, giving you another way to power up Kratos’ arsenal. Obtained after completing the main mission “The Reckoning”, the amulet will offer you ways to add small buffs to your current build by placing Enchantments on it. These either come as individual enchantments or part of a set where you’ll need three of the same kind to unlock the perk.

You will unlock the How it Started achievement once you equip your first Enchantment.

Not only do they offer you perks, but you’ll also get attribute upgrades from them as well, as each individual enchantment will have different stats. When you first receive the Amulet, you won’t be able to do much due to seven of the nine slots where you place the enchantments are locked. On this page, we’ll explain where you can get every enchantment, what they do, and what we think are the best.

How to Unlock the Amulet of Yggdrasil

As mentioned above, you’ll need to progress the story until you finish the mission “The Reckoning”. This is in Vanaheim, and at the end of the mission, you’ll have to fight a boss. Upon defeating said boss, Kratos will collect the Amulet, and place it into his pocket.

When you first get your Amulet of Yggdrasil, it’ll look somewhat like this. To unlock the broken slots, you’ll need to find Jewels of Yggdrasil.

How to Unlock Amulet Enchantment Slots

Once you’ve received the Amulet, you may feel a little underwhelmed at what you can do with it right now. Thankfully, this unlocks more as you progress through the game, and unlock more slots. There are nine slots in total, but seven of these will be locked to you at the start. So, how do you unlock more slots you may ask? Well, you’ll need items called Jewels of Yggdrasil which can be obtained by defeating specific story bosses or opening specific Legendary Chests. There are seven Jewels of Yggdrasil in total, two from bosses, and five from chests. If you want to know where to get all seven Jewels of Yggdrasil, check out our Jewels of Yggdrasil page.

How do Enchantments and Perks Work

Each enchantment requires one slot, and to unlock a set perk, you’ll need three enchantments equipped from that specific set. There are 10 sets in the game named after the realms, and six individual enchantments that come with their own perk, and don’t need to be a part of a set. Each perk will boost certain play styles like increasing melee damage, increasing stun damage, bolstering specific skills, and some even boost movement speed! Furthermore, each individual enchantment will give you a generous boost to your attributes.

All Amulet of Yggdrasil Enchantments

Here you’ll find a list of all the possible Enchantments in the game, and where you can get them.

Set Enchantments

All of these Enchantments are part of a set. You’ll need three of the same set to activate the set bonus.

Perks can be activated by matching the required stat next to “Perk Active”.

Single Enchantments

These Enchantments are not part of a set, but offer you stronger perks to make up for it. The majority of these require you to meet a Stat Requirement to activate the perk. This is a balancing mechanic, so you can’t have all of these really powerful enchantments at once.

The Best Enchantments in God of War Ragnarok

Icon Name Notes
Svartalfheim_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Svartalfheim Set The three-piece set increases stun-damage based of your Defense. As many will know, Stun damage is king, so it’s no surprise to see this set listed here.
Jotunheim_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Jotunheim’s Set The three-piece set increases your Rage based on your Vitality stat. More Rage equals more damage, and more health.
Vanaheim_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Vanaheim Set Better for a status-effect build, but it’s still good as you can use Freya’s/Atreus’s Sonic Arrows to supplement it.
Support_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Greater Regenerating Essence This offers a nice passive health increase over the fight. The only downside is its relatively high Vitality requirement to unlock the perk
Support_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Celestial Panacea A nice 25% resistance to most status effect. More useful for the tougher boss encounters, but still useful whatever the situation.
Support_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Crest of Desperate Heroics This enchantment can be the difference between life, and death. Especially useful against tough bosses.
Bright_Eyed_Emblem_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Token of Elemental Evasion Double rolling will reduce the duration of status effects. A very useful enchantment, good for any situation.
Support_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Eir’s Armament Not useful for most bosses, but can be great for specific situations like Muspelheim Challenges or Draugr Holes.
Kinetic_Resililence_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Kinetic Resilience This is useful against tougher bosses where you’ll have time to perform a full combo like the super boss. It allows you to charge up your Permafrost, Immolation, and Maelstrom gauges quicker, while letting you take more hits before losing them.
Support_Enchantment_Icons_God_of_War.png Stone Idol of Souls Gives you a health-leeching passive for several seconds whenever you pick up a Health/Ragestone. Especially good when used in tandem with Atreus’s Ratatoskr Runic Summon.
