When you get the Amulet for the first time in God of War Ragnarok, you’ll notice that seven out of the nine slots are broken, and need to be repaired. You may be wondering how to unlock these slots, well have no fear, this page will tell you exactly how to do that, and where to find them.
Unlocking Amulet Slots¶
As mentioned above, there are seven slots that can be unlocked/repaired, and to do this, you’ll need an item called “Jewel of Yggdrasil”. There are seven in total to get, and you’ll get them through Legendary Chests, and some story bosses. The reason you want to unlock these slots is so you can have more Enchantments added to your amulet thus making Kratos stronger. You can find out what Enchantments you can put into the amulet here.

Jewel of Yggdrasil 1 – The Word of Fate¶
You’ll obtain this Jewel by defeating the Frost Phantom about a quarter of the way through the story mission “The Word of Fate”. If you forgot to pick it up from the boss, it’ll be placed in the Blacksmith Chest among any other items that you failed to pick up.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 2 – Forging Destiny¶
Another Jewel from a story boss. This time it’ll be from one of the two Ogre’s that you’ll encounter near the end of the story mission “Forging Destiny”. Once again, if you forget to pick it up from the boss, it’ll be placed in the Blacksmith Chest among any other items that you failed to pick up.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 3 – The Forgotten Sands, Alfheim¶
Found inside a Legendary Chest in The Forgotten Sands sub-area in Alfheim. This area becomes available after you complete the story mission “The Reckoning”. Speak to the Light, and Dark Elf in Freyr’s Camp to get the Favor “The Elven Sanctum”. This will lead you to the Sanctum where the chest resides. Once you’re inside the Sanctum, progress until you make it into the room with tables, and chairs. Turn your camera to the west, and grapple up to the ledge. The chest will be behind the tree in the middle.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 4 - Noatunn’s Garden, Vanaheim¶
This Jewel can be found in Noatunn’s Garden in Vanaheim. The easiest way to get there is from the Delta River Mysterious Gate, and follow the river east. When you reach the garden, kill the enemies in the area, and then look at the small ruin to the northwest of the area, near where you docked. The Legendary Chest can be found inside there, but you’ll need to find a way to open it. Go to the right side of the building, and there will be a small metal window. If you look closely, you should spot a blue lock covered in vines. With a combination of Freya’s Hex Arrows, and your Blades of Chaos to rid the vines to open the door. With it open, head inside to get the Jewel of Life from the chest.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 5 – The Oarsmen, Midgard¶
You can find this Jewel inside a Legendary Chest in The Oarsmen situated in the north of the Lake of Nine in Midgard. You’ll need to interact with the large chains to advance through the area. Once you make it to The Oarsmen area, follow the linear paths until you go down the stairs into the building. There will be several Raiders in here, so be careful. When they’re taken care of, you should notice a Nornir (rune) Chest right in front of you, and the Legendary Chest will be past the gate next to it. Unfortunately, you’ll need to go the long way round to reach it.
Climb up the northern ledge to the left of the Nornir Chest, and then the wall to your east. As you reach the top, you’ll have a boss of sorts, and you may recognize them. It’s The Huntress boss from earlier, but this time she comes with a few friends. Focus on the “friends” first while always keeping an eye on what The Huntress is doing. Once she’s been defeated, climb the golden chain hanging from the top of the icy southern wall, follow the linear path, and drop to the floor below.
Here you’ll see the large chains mentioned earlier, interact with them to move them, and then turn around and break the wooden barrier by grappling onto it behind you. Go through the passage, take a right, and go down the stairs into the building. Once again, you’ll have some enemies, but this time in the form of Wisps, simply stun them with Freya’s Sonic arrows, and attack them after. Now that they’ve been taken care of, you can unlock the Legendary Chest on the right for the Jewel of Yggdrasil. Don’t forget to pick up the other half of the Fjoturlund Vault Key by the bird statue opposite it while you’re down there.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 6 - Alberich Hollow, Svartalfheim¶
Inside a Legendary Chest in Alberich Hollow. It’ll be part of the reward for completing “The Lost Treasure” Favor which can be started on Dragon Beach by talking to the Wayfarer Spirit. You will need the Draupnir Spear to reach the area of the quest. Follow the quest to its end, and you’ll have to fight a grim boss called “Ormstunga”. Once you defeat it, the chest will be at the back.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 7 – The Jungle, Vanaheim¶
This one can’t be accessed until you reach the story mission “Creatures of Prophecy”. When you leave Freyr’s Camp, you’ll automatically receive the Favor “Scent of Survival”. You’ll need to complete this Favor to gain access to The Crater. As you need to get to The Jungle, you’ll need to make your way south of The Crater by completing the various puzzles on the way. Once you’re in the Jungle, you’ll need to head west from the Mystic Gateway. Keep heading west until you can drop into a Dragon Pit, which is where you can accept the Favor “Path of Destruction”. In the hole, complete the simple chain puzzle to find the Legendary Chest.
