There are only 36 trophies / achievements to be obtained for God of War Ragnarok, with 16 Bronze, 15 Silver, 4 Gold, and 1 Platinum. This roadmap trophy guide will take you through how to get each of them efficiently as you play through the game.
God of War Ragnarok - Trophy / Achievements Guide and Roadmap¶
God of War Ragnarok is similar to its predecessor (God of War 2018) in that you will find yourself returning to most of the areas that you first experienced in the game, once you’ve finished the main story. This is because there are often areas that you can’t access without specific items, such as the Draupnir Spear in this case, but also because some enemies only spawn later in the game, after you’ve been through an area for the first time. Fortunately there are few enemies that you need to kill outside of the main story which count towards trophies / achievements, so most of the boss-related ones will be obtained automatically as you play through the main story. Ultimately, none of the trophies / achievements are missable in this game, so you can always obtain them at the very end of your playthrough without having to worry about being locked out of a region.
Step 1 - Finish the Main Story¶
The main thing we would recommend focusing on first is 100% completion of the main story in God of War Ragnarok. This is because you will then have all of the necessary items that you need to access new areas which contain items or enemies that are linked to trophies / achievements. There are also some areas which don’t require the Draupnir Spear to access, but you will still need to complete the main story before you can reach them. A good example of this is the area where you fight the Valkyrie Queen Gna in Muspelheim. The main story is fairly linear and it will take you through each of the realms gradually. There are some areas in specific realms, such as the northern part of Helheim which you travel to during the main quest Unleashing Hel, that you won’t be able to return to after completing that quest. However, if you missed any items there, you will find them either in the blue chest next to any Blacksmith Shop (where you find Brok, Sindri, or Lunda), or they will be available from the shop menu itself.
As you go through the story you will no doubt acquire some of the necessary collectibles or other relevant items that you need for 100% completion. You may find yourself wanting to complete a specific area in one go while you’re there, and this is fine so long as you’re aware that you can’t access parts of some areas. The main examples of this in Svartalfheim are the back area of Dragon Beach and the additional islands connected to Alberich Island via the rope wire, both of which you can only access using the Draupnir Spear, which you get after completing the Forging Destiny main quest. There are also some parts of Nidavellir, The Forge, and The Applecore that you won’t be able to reach, or puzzles that you won’t be able to complete (such as some Nornir Chests), without the Draupnir Spear. Keep this in mind and be on your way to complete the main story once you’ve obtained everything possible during the first run through these areas.
Step 2 - Complete Favors and Realm Collectibles¶
Ratatoskr Realm Seeds and Favors¶
Once you’ve finished the main story, you will have everything you need to revisit each realm and complete all of the Favors and Collectibles associated with them. Be sure to get the additional Realm Seeds from Ratatoskr, who you can find just outside Sindri’s House in the Realm Between Realms. You need to hit the chimes with your Leviathan Axe to summon him, as shown in the video below. Note that you will only be able to get these new seeds after completing the main story, but you can summon and speak to Ratatoskr in the same place to acquire other quests which are related to specific favors, such as The Lost Lindwyrms and A Stag For All Seasons. You should make a habit of revisiting Ratatoskr each time you complete a main story quest to check on whether he has new quests for you.
There are other favors which can’t be accessed or completed until the main story completes, such as The Broken Prison in Niflheim. This area won’t even appear on your map until after the main story. The same goes for some of the flowers that you need to collect for the Nine Realms in Bloom favor. In particular, you won’t be able to access Jotunheim as Kratos, or certain parts of Niflheim and Midgard, until the main story is complete.
Realm Collectibles for 100% Completion¶
There are hundreds of collectibles to be found throughout the realms in God of War Ragnarok. As mentioned previously, you will obtain some of these as you make your way through the regions while completing main story quests, but many of them can only be accessed with specific items. It’s best to wait until after you’ve completed the main story before you dedicate time to 100% completion for each region, since you’ll save time. The last thing you want is to set your mind to completing a particular region and then being disappointed that you can’t access specific parts of it due to a lack of the appropriate item, or if the area is just blocked off until after the main story.
The Treasure Maps and Buried Treasure are likely to be some of the last collectibles that you find in the game, since most of them require access to late game areas. You can see our All Treasure Maps and Buried Treasure in God of War Ragnarok for a complete list of locations for both the maps and treasure. If you’re missing some Nornir Chests, we’ve also got a page on All Nornir Chest Locations in God of War Ragnarok, which provides a quick and simple overview for their locations, along with text guides or video guides linked if you prefer. For all other collectibles, see the tables below for each region and links to their collectibles guide pages. We’ve also included a link to all the Yggdrasil Dew Drops in each region where relevant, although these aren’t necessary for 100% completion of trophies / achievements.

Helheim Region | Collectible Count |
---|---|
Hel’s Perch and Helgrind | 5 |
Muspelheim Collectibles Guides¶
There are only two regions of Muspelheim that you can explore as Kratos. The first - Burning Cliffs and Surtr’s Forge - contains 6 collectibles including a Nornir Chest, Legendary Chest, Lore, two Odin’s Ravens, and a Remnant of Asgard. The second, known as The Crucible, contains 3 collectibles but two of these aren’t like most of the others. There’s one flower for the Nine Realms in Bloom here, but the Nornir Chest can only be opened after completing the first 6 Muspelheim Trials, and the other favor-related collectible involves defeating the Valkyrie Queen Gna, which is likely to be one of the last things you do in the game given that she’s among the most difficult bosses to fight.
Muspelheim Region | Collectible Count |
---|---|
Burning Cliffs and Surtr’s Forge | 6 |
The Crucible | 3 |
Step 3 - Complete the Gravestone Berserkers¶
The Gravestone Berserkers count towards the collectibles for specific regions where they can be found, but some of these fights are among the toughest in the game, so it’s a good idea to wait until you’re properly geared up after collecting materials through the rest of the content before you attempt them, unless you really want to challenge yourself. To make it as easy as possible, you should be at least level 7 and preferably 8 or 9 for some of the more difficult bosses here. There are 10 Berserker Gravestone boss fights in total and we’ve provided links to our guides for each of them in the table below.
Berserkers | Realm |
---|---|
Hardrefill the Callous | Svartalfheim |
Beigadr the Feared | Svartalfheim |
Bodvar the Fierce and Starolfr the Troublesome | Svartalfheim |
Hjalti The Stolid | Alfheim |
Sisters of Illska and Svipdagr the Cold | Alfheim |
Hvitserkr the Bold | Vanaheim |
Haklangr the Bearded | Vanaheim |
Fraekni the Zealous | Midgard |
King Hrolf Kraki | Midgard |
Skjorthendi The Unerring | Niflheim |
Step 4 - Complete the Muspelheim Trials and Challenges¶
The other big set of late game content can be found in the Muspelheim Trials and Challenges, which can be accessed in The Crucible region. You can only visit this region after obtaining the two Muspelheim Realm Seeds, one of which can be found in a Legendary Chest at Modvitnir’s Rig in Svartalfheim, and the other from a Legendary Chest at Alberich Hollow, which you open as part of The Lost Treasure favor. Once you’re at The Crucible you will need to complete an initial set of 6 Muspelheim Trials before you can access to an additional 3. At this point you can begin to complete specific trials from each sword monument in a particular order, which grants access to one of the 6 Muspelheim Challenges from the central sword monument. You can see our page on How Muspelheim Trials and Challenges Work in GoWR for a more detailed explanation of this system.
If you’re looking for a guide to a specific Muspelheim Trial or Challenge, see the table below for quick links to our guide pages for them.
Name | Type |
---|---|
Weapon Mastery | Trial (Sword Rune F) |
Flawless | Trial (Sword Rune F) |
Rampage | Trial (Sword Rune F) |
Ring Out Challenge | Trial (Sword Rune N) |
Feed the Rift | Trial (Sword Rune N) |
Health Steal | Trial (Sword Rune N) |
Population Control | Trial (Sword Rune R) |
King of the Hill | Trial (Sword Rune R) |
Kill Fuse | Trial (Sword Rune R) |
Shield Breaker | Challenge (Sword Rune Combo F + R) |

Onslaught | Challenge (Sword Rune Combo N + R) |
Ring of Fire | Challenge (Sword Rune Combo N + F) |
Boss Rush | Challenge (Sword Rune Combo R + N) |
Phantom | Challenge (Sword Rune Combo R + F) |
If you haven’t done so already, don’t forget that you can fight Valkyrie Queen Gna in The Crucible once you’re an appropriate level. This fight is generally tougher than any of the Muspelheim Trials or Challenges for most people.
Step 5 - Gear and Other Misc Trophies¶
At this stage you should have completed all of the trophies / achievements related to obtaining collectibles throughout the realms in God of War Ragnarok, all of those related to story boss fights and Berserker Gravestones or super boss fights such as Gna, all favors, all item-specific collectibles such as Phalanx and How it's Going, so long as the items required have been obtained from Legendary Chests or boss fights. If you find yourself missing any items which count towards 100% completion, be sure to check the blue chest next to the Blacksmith Shop where you can meet Brok, Sindri, or Lunda, depending on where you’re at in the story. You may also still need to craft some items from the shop before they will be counted as collected, such as crafting the Dragon Scaled Armor Set for the Dragon Slayer trophy. You will also need to fully upgrade at least one armor set to earn the Ready for Commitment trophy, so make sure that you upgrade 3 pieces from the same set for this.
Ultimately, this is one of the easier games to obtain the platinum trophy for (in this case The Bear and the Wolf), but it can be frustrating to return to so many old regions as you progress through the game, especially if you don’t have the required items or progression through the main story to access specific areas. This is why it’s a good idea to complete the main story first before you seriously consider attempting to obtain all of the trophies, and our progression guide here is based on the easiest and most efficient possible route, but you may find yourself completing some of the more difficult encounters earlier.
If you want to see a description and brief guide for each individual trophy, be sure to check our section.
