A Mysterious Circle Location¶
As mentioned above, the main objective to obtain this Achievement/Trophy and unlock the secret ending in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is to find three special Codex entries hidden in Thedas, known as Mysterious Circles. These require you to engage in the majority of content there is in the game, so you’re going to be busy.
The first one, simply named, A Mysterious Circle, is perhaps the easiest of the bunch to find. You’ll need to make your way to Arlathan Forest once you have completed Davrin’s How to Train a Griffon quest, as it will allow you to open up the eastern part of the forest. Make your way to the Waterfront Glades Beacon and you’ll spot a chest in the middle of the water, with seemingly no way to access it. If you look closely, there are pillars surrounding this area with devices on it, and you must go around the Waterfront Glades area to find the lasers and direct them at each device. There is one to the northwest, northeast, and southeast of the area that circles the small island.
Once you have created a path over to the island, you’ll need to deal with a Level 26 Guardian of Secrets construct that protects the chest. Once defeated, you can open the Unique Chest but more importantly, if you look on the pillar behind the chest, you’ll spot the first circle.
A Second Circle Location¶
To get your hands on the second circle, you’re going to have to progress through the adventure until you unlock the Necropolis Halls for exploration. At that point, you’ll be able to accept a rather lengthy side quest, Pinnacle of its Kind. This is a challenging side quest, as not only will you need to head to Dock Town, Hossberg Wetlands, and Arlathan Forest to take out a demon, you’ll then have to return to where you accepted the quest and take down the Formless One dragon that’s Level 45.
Once the battle is over, you’ll find yourself in a massive room with chests scattered all over the place. On top of all of this loot goodness, you’ll find A Second Circle in the southwest corner of the Chamber of the Unforged where you’ll hear even more cryptic words.
A Final Circle¶
With two down, there’s only one remaining circle for you to find, and you’ll need to complete possibly the game’s toughest side quest, The Heart of Corruption. Although you can pick this quest up as soon as you reach Beacon Island in the Crossroads, you won’t complete it until near the end of the adventure.
This quest requires you to kill three specific Champions to open gates in the Crossroads that lead to challenging Revenant battles. Defeat those, and you’ll be able to enter the door to the east of where you appear on Beacon Island that leads to a battle against a Level 50 Revenant Dragon, the highest Level enemy in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Once the dragon is defeated, head forward toward where the Unique Chest is, but instead, climb up to your left to spot A Final Circle.
With all three circles collected, make sure that you have completed the Regrets of the Dread Wolf quest and have Mythal’s Essence on you. You’ll now need to finish the rest of the game and after the credits, you’ll view the secret ending, hinting at the future of Dragon Age and unlocking the The Storm Quelled Achievement/Trophy, congratulations!
